At Mojo Master Beauty Rehab, we specialize in color and shape corrections of previous permanent makeup. With over 23 years experience, we have seen a lot of permanent makeup gone bad over the years.
The cosmetic tattoo industry is poorly regulated in many states, resulting in many new tattoo artists with inadequate training leaving their clients with unattractive, and sometimes even devastating results.
Removal or color corrections are not only necessary to correct botched work, but sometimes needed to back out color of brows that were nice at some point but have had multiple procedures over the years resulting in dark, over-saturated color. Fortunately, we have solutions!
It is not uncommon for permanent makeup, particularly eyebrows, to fade to unnatural colors such as grey, blue or red and they age. As we better understand the science behind the pigments we are using, products have become more stable and predictable. Additionally, pigment companies offer corrective colors to neutralize the undesirable color, bringing it back to to more natural appearance.
Corrections are a complicated issue that often required a multi-faceted approach addressing issues with color, shape and symmetry
(see below).
While not all issues can be completely fixed, we can generally make significant improvement. We are happy to schedule a consultation to discuss your treatment options.

Removal - Laser vs. Saline
Color Correction
The science behind permanent makeup is relatively new and is advancing rapidly. One of the most exciting developments is the addition of the Li-FT Saline Pigment Removal System.
When old permanent makeup can not be color corrected due to over -saturation, too many mottled colors, or the shape is off - then removal is the only solution. Removal options are by way of LASER or Saline Pigment Removal. Both treatments require multiple treatments for an effective outcome. The number of treatments depends on the colors being treated, , the depth and saturation of the old color, and the clients goals. Sometimes removal of just some of the pigment is sufficient to move forward. Clients wanting to completely remove old color (which is not always possible), will require more sessions. Sessions are typically scheduled 6-8 weeks apart, depending on client's skin type. Once treatments have ended, lightning will typically continue for several months.
Saline is simply salt + water. Saline treatment lightens tattoos and, when done as a series of treatments, can remove them. We use a manual tool or machine to inject saline solution into the areas of unwanted ink. Saline tattoo removal uses osmosis to persuade the cells to release the ink or pigment and to draw it out from under the skin. This procedure will be accompanied by some minor bleeding and could potentially bruise a bit (this is uncommon) so please plan ahead for that if you have trips or events coming up. The top layer of skin will form a scab. As the skin heals, the tattoo will gradually lighten.

LASER treatment breaks up the tattoo ink under the skin, where it is absorbed by the body. With SALINE, the ink is lifted up out of the skin via osmosis, so it is removed from the body.
LASER treatment requires a different wavelength of light for each different color, and it cannot remove white ink. SALINE removes all colors of ink.
LASER treatment can damage hair follicles. SALINE does not.
LASER cannot be used around the eyes. SALINE is safe to use around the eyes.
Some skin types, especially darker skin tones, are prone to burns or pigment problems, even scarring, with LASER. SALINE typically does not have these complications.
